A conference for professionals to raise awareness of the support needs of the unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (UASCs) and young people living in Oxfordshire. This is a conference for Oxfordshire children’s workforce to increase understanding and improve confidence across the county, with supporting unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (UASCs) entering Oxfordshire. 

Delegates will hear from speakers from children’s social care, housing, education, local voluntary organisations, the Home Office and UASCs themselves. There will also be a drama production from a local theatre group and information about local support services.

The conference will focus on:

  • Understanding the journey to Oxfordshire, the trauma which may have been experienced and the impact of that trauma
  • The support services in place for when UASC arrive
  • How professionals across the county can best meet the needs of UASC

Who should attend: This is a conference for professionals who wish to gain a better understanding of the needs of UASC and how best to support them.
