Overview of course:

‘Trauma-informed practice is a term that is used all of the time, but it’s often poorly defined or dismissed as something that is ‘already being done’. Often, ‘trauma-informed practice’ can also be confused with providing ‘trauma-focused interventions’. Trauma-informed practice is a model of service delivery and understanding that is focused on the biological, social, and psychological impact of early adversity.

Aims/Objectives:

This is an introductory session that aims to provide the following:

  • To provide an overview of trauma-informed practice and the underlying model
  • To outline current understanding of the prevalence of early adversity and the biopsychosocial impact of it
  • To provide a reflective space to think together about the clinical and service-level implications of this

Who should attend: This workshop is open to all professionals working with children and young people
