This is a 2.5-hours FACE TO FACE workshop addressing the issues of gang exploitation, county lines and organised crime. The workshop will be interactive and facilitated by a former undercover police officer who has extensive experience working with Child Criminal Exploitation.

Please choose EITHER the morning OR afternoon session; tea/coffee/refreshments will be provided.

Who should attend?

Multi-agency practitioners in Oxfordshire such as frontline workers and volunteers from wide-ranging settings including education, housing, police, health, social care, early help, voluntary sector etc. Practitioners in a safeguarding role working with young people or populations at risk of criminal exploitation.

The workshop will include:

  • Definitions and explanations of County Lines, Gangs and Organised Crime Groups 
  • An update of current County Lines Criminal Practices
  • Review of the correlation between County Lines, Human Trafficking and Modern Day Slavery 
  • Risk Factors for CCE and the National Referral Mechanism
  • ‘Street-Strong Street-Safe’ - enhanced youth engagement skills to provide support to young people at risk of criminal exploitation, including a Knife-crime module
  • The workshop is highly interactive – prepare to engage!

Through attending this training delegates will:

  • Gain enhanced youth engagement skills and knowledge
  • Be able to support children and vulnerable adults at risk of criminal exploitation
  • Be empowered by hearing real-life scenarios, which can build personal resilience and awareness of the dangers and consequences of becoming involved in crime
  • Learn practical personal safety advice

Background information about the trainer delivering the course:

Dean Coady OBE was born in Salford and grew up in South Manchester. A former Parachute Regiment Soldier he joined Greater Manchester Police in 1990 and served 25 years front-line, including working undercover for the Gang Unit Moss Side, as well as working for the Counter Terrorism Branch and Major Crime and Specialist Operations. Prior to his retirement in 2014 he was one of the highest decorated Detectives in the UK, receiving numerous Chief Constable and Judges Commendations. He is a member of the Home Office Ending Gang Youth Violence and Exploitation Focus Group and is currently a School Governor at 17 Secondary Pupil Referral Units across South Manchester.
