WEBINAR session,

Detail:

Overview of Honour Based Abuse (HBA)

This course has been specifically designed to increase professionals’ knowledge, skills and confidence in working with so-called Honour Based Abuse. The training explores different indicators and includes learning on what the ‘honour’ codes mean to some communities. We believe that if professionals have a strong understanding of harmful practices, including the reasons behind them, then they will feel more confident in spotting the signs and dealing with concerns in a way that is proportionate, sensitive and effective.

Aims

By the end of the session delegates will be able to:

  • Describe so-called Honour Based Abuse (HBA) and Forced Marriage (FM) and outline the UK laws around these
  • Recognise indicators of HBA and FM, as well as their impacts
  • Identify professional responsibilities, best practice for opening up conversation and encouraging disclosure, and routes to support including safeguarding

Trainers from 'Oxford Against Cutting's' (OAC) Anti-HBA team will be delivering this training.

This session will take place virtually via ZOOM and joining instructions will be sent a few days before the event is due to take place.
