Secondary trauma results from caring for, hearing details of or witnessing trauma experienced by another person.

This workshop is aimed at increasing practitioner’s awareness of the impact of stress and secondary trauma, by the end of the session it is envisaged that delegates will have gained the following:

  • An understanding of chronic stress and secondary trauma
  • Understand the impact it has on the health of the mind, body, emotions
  • Strategies for managing stress, building resilience and avoiding secondary trauma
  • Tips for creating a healthy mind and body from a behaviour change perspective, with a focus on exercise, food and self-care

Claire Tinker has a Masters in Health Psychology, and has worked in the Trauma Recovery Centre for 10 years alongside a multidisciplinary clinical team.

Over this decade, Claire has developed a passion to support professionals working on the front line with traumatised people, and to equip them with understanding and strategies to reduce the risk of secondary traumatic stress conditions.

Claire has experience working therapeutically with traumatised teenagers and young people and also enjoys working with clinical data to evidence trauma recovery.
