  • To identify self-harm in young people
  • How to provide support in your work setting
  • When and how to access further support

Objectives:

  • An increased understanding of self-harm and associated factors
  • An improved ability to recognise young people at risk of self-harm
  • An increased capacity to work effectively in promoting young people’s overall mental health

Supporting young people who self-harm  This training explores what self-harm is and how it might present.  It explores why young people might self-harm and helps to challenge commonly held assumptions. The session includes guidance around how to talk to young people who may be self-harming, confidentiality, dealing with your own feelings and supporting young people with alternative strategies.
