Overview
Domestic abuse is the most common form of violence against women and girls, as well as affecting men and children. This is why it is important to develop knowledge and awareness of the many forms of abusive behaviours and their potential impacts. The materials and seminar group has been designed to develop insights into abusive behaviours and the dynamics of relationships in which abuse is a factor, as well as to further understanding of your safeguarding responsibilities, best practice for opening conversations, and routes to support including referral and signposting in Oxfordshire.
Aims
By the end of the session, delegates will be able to:
- Describe domestic abuse, including its prevalence and risks as defined by the Domestic Abuse Act 2021 and other relevant legislation and research
- Identify abusive behaviours, their impacts and the dynamics of relationships in which abuse is a factor
- Recognise the best practice for opening conversations including routes to support including referral and signposting
